We have our own on-site controlled atmosphere fruit storage facilities at Maidstone in Kent and Hemingstone in Suffolk accommodating in excess of 5,000 tonnes of apples. In addition we have access to a further 15,000 tonnes of controlled atmosphere storage across all areas of the UK. These store are electronically managed on site and the fruit is inspected on a monthly basis to ensure that the fruit comes out in the best possible condition.

We have just completed the building of up to date storage at our Maidstone site and have an ongoing storage building programme in place. In addition to this we are embarking on a new storage building programme with our contracted suppliers, on their own farms, which will ultimately accommodate a further 10,000 tonnes. These stores will be built to the most energy efficient specification where we can dramatically reduce our carbon footprint and keep our ‘food miles’ to a minimum.

As the fruit is put in store in October and then taken out from January through until August this gives us the opportunity to store other fruits or chilled products for short term periods.
